NEONCON - CLICK ME

n e o n C O N - Ian Tatton's work presents a hybrid of documentation and conceptual styles of photography and is often a collaborative process with performers and artists. He uses humour and irony to present social commentary in a fascinating and illuminating manner. Not only does his work explore and study the society he lives in but also comments on the language of photography itself. The rhythems within ians work at times reveal watchful and understated details, swinging to brash flashes of vulgar displays, all depicting the extremes of today. 'neon CON ' is an accumulation of a number of focused photographic enquires that are presented in a haphazard, yet deliberate and connected style. Each image can be read alone or in relation to one another. This is not a linear approach but rather an example of how the rhythm of external messages are absorbed. " My enquiries and photographic responses are small thoughts on epic lies surrounding the pursuit of happiness: to be saved', to consume and to dream and yet never be content. The imagery in this exhibition is an album of responses to the Big Sell; a mash up of cultural references and messages and a reaction to the pressures poured into us on a daily basis."
